GRANDMA’S STYLE CHICKEN CURRY- KERALA VILLAGE SPICY CHICKEN CURRY RECIPE

Chicken curry is a very popular and common delicacy in Kerala. There are many types of chicken curry cooked in Kerala. But this Grandma’s style chicken curry is very aromatic chicken curry made with fresh ingredients. The highlight of this chicken recipe is the aroma of freshly powdered spices and coconut. And it is the best chicken curry I have ever had in my life. Grandma’s traditional chicken curry is one of my good old grandma’s recipe, which used to be cooked in perfect harmony using the aromatic flavors of whole spices and coconut. This chicken gravy is a quick and easy to make traditional recipe. I learnt this recipe from my grandmother. The love of a grandma is unique. she played a big part in my childhood and I can remember so many times sitting to her in Kitchen and tasting the dishes, she prepare with special love. She has never been just my grandma, but my guardian, my friend, my inspiration and partner in crime. Still I can’t believe my lovely grandma was taken away from us. This is a unique recipe which has been my grandma’s secret recipe that I have been preparing now since ages to keep this humble dish alive as it’s one of my most favorite chicken curries with distinctive flavors and aroma. Every time I thought grandma was finished adding ingredients to the chicken curry, she would surprise me with yet another. She used to cook this chicken curry in a clay pot over a wood stocked fire.
I am sure we shall all keep our traditional recipes intact and do teach them to our later generations too. For preparing the grandma’s chicken curry, take a pan and add whole spices, kashmiri chilly powder and coconut. Fry it on low flame, once this done blend this mixture to a fine powder and set aside. If you want you can store this masala powder in a air tight container in refrigerator  for later use too.

Tips- The above mentioned spice level which give you a spicy chicken curry. So adjust or reduce according to your taste or spice level. If you have time and patience then add shallots in the place of onion, for the authentic taste and flavor. Instead of broiler chicken, you can use country chicken that gives a authentic traditional flavor and taste to the curry.
